Congratulations to Paxton Prince, pre season all state offensive line from WC!

This is great! Pax is a great character on the team. He's one of those kids that's blossomed over the last year working hard in the weight room and on the field. Good for him! Glad his hard work is paying off.

2nd game of the season, Wayne Co. visits SH...we've selected this game to honor our play by play announcer Kevin Wood. Kevin was diagnosed earlier this year with a malignant brain tumor...hope that your fans will understand the significance of our community's love and support while Kevin fights this personal battle.

Sorry to hear about Mr Woods condition, prayers sent from WC. You won't find any better sportsmanship than you'll get when WC shows up. Sometimes we all gotta step back and remember this is just s game and there's a lot more important things in this life. I pray for Mr Woods and yalls football family Edited by wildcat89

To add to what 89 said. We are terribly sorry to hear of this unfortunate news and hope n pray for nothing but positive things for your announcer and your entire Lion family.

You can't make mistakes like we made that day vs a veteran Wayne County team with 20 seniors and expect to win.

That 2011 team actually had 17 Seniors on it also. All 22 starters from both Offense & Defense were Seniors! Even our Kicker, Punter, Holder, Long Snapper, Kick Returner & Punt Returner ALL were Seniors!

Such a special group of kids!

Yeah I remember talking with fans at the gate and they talked about how those seniors in 2011 all played together since little league. That's how you build a program. Good luck again.

And yes Ambassador, dropping passes in the end zone, fumbling, penalties behind the play when we actually were scoring. We definitely underachieved. However, when you got 3-4 key senior players that are hurt all playoffs, then decide to play in final game still hurt seemed to be a crutch at times. If I got the right game in mind. I loved the heart and determination and grit, but was hoping for something different. But Wayne co had a game plan and we couldn't stop it. They played a hand in our demise.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
