private vs public in football final

Hampton sold 3000 tickets the last game, thats 24'000 dollars, The football program made enough money to buy 4 new helmets. I'm sure that's not the norm at a lot of school's.Takes a bunch of money to field a football team. And people wonder why we play natural rivals as our out of region games.

So, we got 10% of gate....Not sure we get a dime from concessions either....I think maybe basketball and some band takes that because they work it every game.

$2,400 for the FB team at a state semi-final FOOTBALL game....Hummmmmmmm

I'm gonna have to chew on this awhile...Never thot about it before

I do know that Carter Co is one of if not the poorest counties in the State. Elizabethton is the only City school and they do pretty well.  The County school's are really limited.

4 high schools....A total of 12 school building (20+ if you count the shop class buildings)....Limited yes...But not sure how it could change in this neck of the woods and actually benefit anyone

I'm just guessing but I bet Marion Co football made 6000.

I'm not aware of school budgets, but the other benefit to evening out the regions and the classifications is that they can play 3 to 4 out of region games per year. I would love to see more games played across the state from East vs. Middle, Middle vs. West, and West vs. East. The average bus holds 60 gallons of gas and gets 8-9 mpg (might be higher mpg's on the interstate), but that would mean that it would take about $200 to ship 1 bus of kids across the state and back (and that's from Johnson City to Memphis). Surely, there is enough in the budgets to afford that once or twice per year, especially if we weighted reclassification based off of location with some flexibility on enrollment. Maybe it's not in the budgets, I don't know, but it would be awesome to see in my opinion.

how many fans would travel for west tn to east tn or vice versa.to watch their teams play if they didn't have a child playing.this new region that huntingdons playing killed the gate.the visitor's stands wouldn't have thirty fans.and that's schools two hours away.

Yep....Every 7-10 years these small schools have "one of those" type teams...05,06,07 was one of those teams.

I've decided, since you and I have time on our hands, to follow suit and begin "persuading".

Think of the team we would have fielded if only a couple from Cloudland had played here....We start getting one from here and one from there (only 15 minutes away either direction) we won't have to wait years to field this type of 2A team again!

I may even start the process to gain the funds to install our own plastic-grass field since ours is so inferior to others...And auto-flush urinals and toilets too! We'll buy a white suit and hire the EXPERT to pass out hand-towels in our air conditioned rest rooms!

Naaa, all that sounds as if it'd take away from the FB experience to me

Easy now big fellow...

All privates should be in D-II. The majaroity of them think they are better and above us public schools. For instance the high and mighties tried to get TSSAA to make Greenback change the semi final last friday night saying that it wasnt safe for them, and our field was subpar. ANd then after that failed they had to dring brooms and sweep our bleachers before they set their rich butts on our country dirt. So yes I say let them be with their own kind play in D-II and deal with the other high and mighties. Now yes I know that not all the private fans are like this but 99% are and you know its true.

Preach it!

Horse, WC will bring that gate number up for yall next year! I agree, wc's gate was way down this year as well with the new region, mostly parents attending only it seemed. HHS was our biggest crowd by far. There were a few games that there were more players than fans

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
