Youngon, Old Pirate has been around a HEEP longer obviously. The gym reference went way back to when the old high school gym needed a roof and the floor was not up to par under the goals. Jasper folks started grumbling and consolidation was brought up. Later Jasper folkes complained about the high school because they wanted a new high school, consolidation came up, now that school building is once again considered unsuitable and again Jasper folkes are wanting a new middle school, so again consolidation is the talk. Questions persist, where is the money coming from, higher taxes? How is the building of a super duper schools going to be cheaper for the county. The way OP sees it is, Jasper Middle gets to move to the now Jasper high school, the old school will be found useful for something else. Jasper high is consolidated with SP & Whitwell HS with SPHS becoming a middle school, WHS becomes something..... because they already have 3 new school buildings. So when all is said and done, bus routes have added an additional stop, the county school board has split their britches & put the county into deeper dept and still the county has traded a old middle school for a new HS that will cause a HEEP of feuding between kinfolkes! Who is going to be Head coaches, what coaches will lose their coaching jobs, what students will be unable to enjoy playing - and they will......be many because of the shear numbers. Will one of them be your son or daughter that will limited or unable to be more than practice players, how many football players would even make the traveling squad? The powers that be that back this mess need to be replaced asap.

 

OP, Pretty sure they can save money on getting it painted!
