WrestlingGod
Manivong from Antioch forfeited at 106, anybody know what happened here? Edited February 18, 2016 by WrestlingGod
cbg
There have been several forfeits and that is just in the first few weight classifications. Why so many forfeits? Did kids not make weight, did not pass the skin check, injured prior to tournament, etc...
ghouse
My guess is that we will find out a large percentage of them will be skin checks... I remember that there were a lot of issues last year as the TSSAA was taking a pretty hard line on them and not necessarily letting existing doctor's notes pass. Bump11
That would be a shame

I remember that there were a lot of issues last year as the TSSAA was taking a pretty hard line on them and not necessarily letting existing doctor's notes pass. How hard would it be to have a doctor in the weigh in room in order to give the athlete the benefit of the doubt and let him wrestle ? Assuming the kids isn't a walking petri dish, I doubt treated ringworm or similar condition is a big health threat to other competitors. ? I remember that there were a lot of issues last year as the TSSAA was taking a pretty hard line on them and not necessarily letting existing doctor's notes pass. I don't know why the TSSAA would not accept a legitimate physicians clearance form. The TSSAA has been broke once before so why would they have the audacity to challenge the opinion of any licensed physician? That would be the same as saying the physician did not know what they were talking about. Just another possible legal case that the TSSAA would not be able to pay for without their insurance carrier stroking a check.

I believe last year it was a doctor (maybe a trainer) that the TSSAA had at weigh-ins who overrode an existing doctor's note in at least one situation that I am aware of. While in my deep, innermost being I know that the effects of transmitted ringworm are pretty much negligbile, you will not see the TSSAA or NFHS agreeing with that. Thus, they are apparently preparing to take some pretty firm stances there.
