Maryville vs Heritage tonight at 7:30

Bearden vs Farragut at 9 West High School. Great crowd last night. I'm hoping for the same tonight. The times I posted earlier were wrong.

I was wrong. Knox news is correct. I guess I should correct the thread. I don't want anyone to miss the games.

Maryville lost a close one to Heritage. Sounds like it was wild and crazy.

Great win by Heritage. It definitely was a team win but Blake Ervin really stood out with an outstanding floor game in all aspects. Maryville played much better offensively in second half after Heritage controlled the first.

 

Totally bizarre ending when ref called a foul on Maryville with 1 second left under Maryville's goal after Heritage rebounded a missed Maryville shot in a 60-60 tie game. Heritage made both free throws to go up 62-60. Maryville threw it the length of the court and same ref called a shooting foul on Heritage on a desperation Maryville shot at buzzer. With no time on clock, Maryville missed first free throw and hit the second one, final score 62-61. IMO, both foul calls were ticky tack in that situation & game should have went to OT.

 

Anyway, Heritage will get chance to win first district tourney title in school history- luckily it won't get snowed out this year like last year. Maryville has to bounce back in a big consolation game that should be called the "Avoid Oak Ridge" game.

Agree ...don't ever remember a more bizarre ending and agree NEITHER foul should have ever been whistled. Do you think second call was make-up for first call?

I absolutely believe the second call was a makeup call. I have always thought that this particular ref that made the calls is an above average ref- I would say he regretted calling the foul on Maryville and tried to even things up.

Terrible calls both ways, second was a make up call. Heritage, Farragut, Bearden have Great Fan Support, Maryville on the other hand has terrible Fan Support, Sad Really for a school that size to have so little support. But was a fun environment

I was surprised too by the lack of Maryville student section. BTW ...not the greatest venue for the District Tournament. Especially on a night where you have rivalry games like WB vs Heritage; Heritage vs Maryville; and Farragut vs Bearden. Not sure if it's just West's year to host as part of some rotating district schedule or the coaches / A.D's picked it as the sight, but it's not big enough. And parking is atrocious. I'm guessing West has the smallest seating capacity of any school in our district.

RW ...interesting. Always seems MHS has a good student section at their home games. They need to come out Monday because that game is CRUCIAL for the Rebs. If you noticed, WB didn't have many students there either for the girls game.

 

Wasn't sure if they were still rotating host school or not. Thanks for clarifying. Hopefully we can get it back over on our side of the river in the near future.

The students don't like to come to the games because of one guy. If I treated people at work like he treats people at his work, I would be relieved of my duties.

Apparently there was a school play going on at West besides the district games. Parking was pretty bad.

yes there was a play. It was bad scheduling cause the district tournament is in a rotation.
