strong scrimmage game for sure.  Running back for Kenwood is a stud and ran for 3 early td's against us, the we hunker'd down and did well on defense.  Offense did well, good line play and back play, few fumbles that slowed us down as well.  Passed ball well.  Overall, good end to spring practice w/ scrimmage win.  Reveals to us things we always need to work on - limit fumbles, be physical, and compete.  If we continue to take care of these things, we'll be alright.

You guys mentioned injuries, baseball and soccer that kept players out...Are any of the injuries looking to be serious enough to keep kids out in the Fall and how will the Allen kid leaving for McCracken Co., Ky. affect us ?

Looks like we did well against bigger schools during the Spring...Saw where we were going to scrimmage Waverly, East Hickman and play in the Jamboree in Dyersburg in the preseason...Going back to boot camp in Columbia as well...

P&G, the loss of the Allen kid will have little or no affect on the team. He is a special kind of running back for sure, if you've seen him run the rock, but the position he played wasn't handling the ball every play so there won't be a lot of distress replacing him. He was a very good return player also, but with 70 kids on the roster I'm sure someone will step up. As for the injuries, none were season ending as far as we know. When you play the type of ball we play players are going to get injured in practice. They are basically playing a game against one of the top teams on the state every day in practice. Players from other spring sports came back for the last couple days of practice, so they got a little time in. Come August all the other teams in 1A better be prepared for what they will be facing, I caught a glimpse and it doesn't look good for them.

agree with your assessment except for number of players.  More like 50-60 including freshmen.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
