Rutherford County Jamboree This Friday

In simple terms the jamboree for the warriors was a nitemare. There need to find an offense. The starting QB was suspended for behavior and Odom took the reigns. They managed one score and again a missed PAT by the kicker. Looks like the running back Stubbs reinjured his broken collar bone and if he's out that will be a tremendous blow to the offense as he has accounted for 80% of the yards in preseason. Im not sure where is pro style offense is but unless it's the Cleveland Browns offense its not there. If they don't figure something out soon its going to a long disappointing season for the Warriors.

The warriors struggled Friday night on offense with the back up QB . The injury of the running back Scruggs early took the wind out of their sails. They need to find a themselves on offense. The defense played well but have a few metal mistakes in the passing game over the middle resulting in both Smyrna scores. They have a lot of work to do to improve before Saturday nights game against Ootelwah in the Classic.

Smyrna looked most improved overall in there first test. Both sides of the ball showed themselves to be a team to recon with this year. This Smyrna team could be the surprise of the year. Blackman ran the ball well but the passing game has some weak spots. Knox deep catch was just that, a catch he came back and make. Siegel looked improved and I was impressed with the poise of their QB. The have a kicker that's lights out and made a 47 yarder look easy that would have been good from 55. Oakland played well and showed the toughness everyone expected. They will be the team to beat in this region but if there is one game this year youll want to see it's the Oakland / Smyrna game...could be a war..

Smyrna was ranked too low in the preseason polls. They are legit. Should be right behind Oakland.

My observation: 

 

Riverdale - Lines looks small. Litiker will help, but he will have to be motivated. QBs will scramble alot this year. 

 

Smyrna - Turner looked good, but I don't think he was ever pressured. They're the type of team that will get better as the year moves along. Their game with Oakland at the end of the season could be a dandy. 

 

Blackman - Teague may prove there is no drop off from Dowdy. Blackman is disciplined and will make you earn your points. Would not be surprised if they win 6A Reg 2. 

 

Stewarts Creek - Was overmatched by Blackman, but plays with heart and no quit. They might be a sleeper in their final season in 5A. Without a doubt a playoff team. 

 

Siegel - Best kicker in the state, but FGs won't get it in this region. Numbers on the sideline were small and without a JV program this year, it might be a tough road the next few seasons. Their opponent (Summit) might win 1 game if they were in 6A Reg 2.

 

Oakland - Ran the ball at will on LaVergne. RBs are plenty at Oakland and the wealth will be spread. Patterson, Roper, Snelling, Marshall, Sibert & Washington will all see time at the RB position. QB play is very mediocre. Defense as good as advertised. 

 

LaVergne - By far more athletes than any school in the county. Unfortunately the program lacks discipline, money and facilities. The school could be a Knoxville Fulton with the right leadership in place. Line was weak which lead to QB Miller running alot and being forced to make bad throws. Probably a playoff team.
