William Blount Bye Week

This bye week couldn't have come at a better time because the Govs have dropped 2 straight games and are a little banged up right now. This will be a great time for the team to rest, get some guys healed up, and regroup. The Govs are sitting at 2-3 right now, but the team is definitely improved over last season. Last season, the defense couldn't stop the most inept of offenses, but last night they held a very athletic Bearden team to 14 points through 4 qtrs despite the fact that Bearden had great field position all night. The offense has been disappointing for the most part, but anyone who has seen this team knows they have the potential to score a lot of points. If the Govs can continue to improve on defense and get their offense back on track they'll be in great shape.

The good news is the Govs are 1-1 in region play, and the next two region games are very winnable. But the first order of business is to forget the last 2 losses, get back to work on Monday, and most importantly get/stay healthy. I have faith in the Govs. #LOP

As someone in Murfreesboro who was bored and watched your game last night, I have to admit, the refs up there SUCK! I have never seen such blatant disregard for a team in my life! I hope the team enjoys and relaxes during their bye week. Unreal! If I were Shad, I'd be doing nothing this week but filing a complaint with whoever it needs to be filed with!

Great time to rest and catch up on injuries and focus on the second half of the season for the Govs. The other night I personally figured Bearden would win but I was glad to know it had to go into overtime to do it so that means WB is just as good.  Good luck with Jefferson County in two weeks, should be a good ballgame to see.

History favors the Govs in the matchup at Jefferson Co. Going back to 2009 when these two teams started playing every year, the visiting team has won 5 of the 7 games. Both teams have only won one at home in the series. WB won at home in 2009 and Jeff Co won at home in 2012, but other than that the visiting team always wins.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
