Is DB down a little or is it the tougher schedule?

Last year, based on wins and losses, DB's schedule was ranked the toughest in the state.  This year , some of the same teams have not performed as well.  Sevier County is down, as is SH.  With the exception of WB, the wins and losses are about what most would have predicted.  Bradley will be favored fairly heavily, but the last three should be possible wins.

Offense is performing better than last year, and is scoring enough to win on almost everyone.  Defensively, well.... , we are just giving up way too many to be in the top of the pack.  One week it's the run that kills us,  the next it's the pass,  and last night , it was both.

So to answer your question, the final record will be better than last year, but not outstanding.  The offense is better, the defense is just not improved much at all (as much as I would like to say otherwise).  So we work through this season, try to learn from it, and move on to a new conference that trades Mary and Bradley for MoWest and another mid major.  JMO

I would personally miss Maryville in the schedule. I hope you're wrong. It would just help instill the false image that we are better than we are.

Has Clark had some input into this change?

He only has input on the non-conference schedule. Super 32 goes away and it is going back to about 48 teams per class which puts a slightly different set of schools in the easternmost 6A conference.

When they close North, South, and Central the new Sullivan "East" and "West" schools should be 6A.

Yes you did! Congratulations! Smart Mouth! There is a reason you are ranked #1 in the state! Your team is good and go pretty deep with your talent! We didn't complain that one of best receivers got knocked out for the season against William Blount and did not play last night! Another fact about the WB game you all make fun of but LB was out along with Starting QB going down with shoulder injury in the first half, starting receiver goes down in the second half, and three other players out of the game as well, one of those being our only returning starting offensive lineman. You also haven't heard one of our starting lineman didn't play last night with an injured ankle and we still pushed your D-line around more than they have ever been pushed around! Take your win and move on!

LMAO . :roflol::roflolk:   My take on RR'S comment  is that  it could have been much worse . At full strength you would have had maybe 14 pts.

What year was tougher?

Every year we played in the Big East and had Oak Ridge on the schedule. And remember I said with the exception of Maryville. You take Maryville out and the last two years are no tougher than the years in the Big East. The difference is we don't have Watson coaching the defense. Watson was also the man that got the whole team mentally ready before games. There's no doubt in my mind that if Watson was still here DB would be competing with Maryville and beating everybody else. DB has terrible coaching on defense. Watson made Clark look good for years. The proof is in the pudding.

I talk to a kool aid drinker today that said he could have coached Maryville to victory with all that talent and lack of talent DB has.Talked about how good a job GC done and how Maryville ran the score up on DB's 3rd string. Then said it was funny about him getting mad and trying to score at the end.I said yep, that was Maryville's backups too and  tried to explain how beat up Maryville was last night then I just thought f- it and said that was DB's best chance ever and Maryville still scored 56 points  and you call that good coaching.

I watched the game and made this observation..no disrespect to the Maryville team or their fans, but GQ could have taken the kids from DB and beat the team across the field.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
