No surprise with Upperman still being on top.  They are by far the cream of the crop.  The way the rest has played out so far has been a little bit shocking.  Should be a good battle the rest of the way between the other teams for seeding purposes in the district tournament.

LA has the talent and experience, with five seniors, to move up and/or make some noise in the tournament but at this point it looks like they're taking the same path as last year. A downward spiral.

How will the district end up going into the tourney?

1. Upperman

Will Macon or Smith end up as the 2? Will LA end up as the 4 or will someone else sneak into that spot as LA sputters toward the end of the year? York and Dekalb both appear dangerous for someone as go home district tournament games loom......

Don't think Upperman will be touched, but you never know when post-season starts.  Anyone's guess as to how the rest shake out.  Macon girls have improved during the year but have overachieved according to how many picked them to finish.  Smith Co. has experience on their side and are dangerous to everyone they play when they are hitting the basket.  Livingston has faltered a bit, but never count them out.  York has also improved during the year and go as the sisters play, so who knows.  DeKalb and Cannon both have shooters that can get streaky at any time.  Central Magnet has struggled, but have played several of the others close at times so they could sneak in a good run in the district tourney.  Overall, district was down with the exception of Upperman, but that made for an exciting race for the other spots.

How will the district tournament look like this year. I have heard there is a different format with the #1 and #2 seed getting a double bye. So will it be like

1st round

#5 vs #8

#6 vs #7

2nd round

winner of #5/#8 vs #4

winner of #6/#7 vs #3

Semi-finals

winner of #5/#8 vs #4 plays #1

winner of #6/#7 vs #3 plays #2

Finals

winner of the two semi-finals plays

Consolation

loser of the two semi-finals plays

of that is the case

#1 seed will be Upperman

#2 seed will be Macon Co.

#3 seed will be Smith Co.

#4 seed will be Livingston Academy

Upperman is #1. I believe Smith and Macon will have to flip a coin for #2 as they split in the regular season. LA is more than likely #4. All district games will be completed Thu. the 9th.  The  district meeting is scheduled for Fri. 10 Feb. The brackets will be established then. :popcorneater:

If Macon and Smith both win Thursday then Macon will be second due to them sweeping LA. It goes head to head first then records against the highest ranked teams. If still tied then coin toss

Smith Co. got up-set by Central Magnet to night. That makes 1,2,3,4,and 8 a solid lock. Looks like some discussion about 5,6 and7. :popcorneater:

1. Upperman

2. Macon

3. Smith

4. LA

5-7. York, Dekalb, Cannon

8. CM

5-8 are all dangerous this year...Smith and LA will have to play well to earn a Region berth this year no matter who it is...I would think York with a couple seniors would have an advantage because they probably aren't ready for it to be over yet, however I don't know if they can ever knock off LA or Smith. Dekalb and Cannon are both young and that might be dangerous this time a year...maybe they don't realize how big the situation is and just go out and play. Should be an interesting tournament next week at TTU!!!

Just an observation..

Looks like Dekalb Lady Tigers are back to their losing ways since the departure of Coach Cope. With the loss to Warren County their record stands at 11-14, their worst record in 7 years.

Watching the Lady Tiger/Lady Pioneer game was much like watching paint dry. Absolutely no energy from the Lady Tiger bench. To be honest it was a bore on both sides but Dekalb looked worse than the first time they played their border rival, a game in which they won. Anyone else wanna weigh in with thoughts?! I'll wait..
