Does anyone know about RePublic High School? I've read its a Charter school and starting football next year in 1A, the job has been posted for a while. Can anybody in the Metro area shed some light on it.

Approved Membership Request for Republic High School effective with the 2015-2016 school year.  Republic School is located in Nashville.  It is licensed through the Tennessee Department of Education as a Category 2 approved charter with Metro Nashville Public Schools.  For the 2015-2016 school year they will offer the 9^thgrade and will add a grade each year. Their estimated enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year is 150 students. If approved, Republic High School will be classified in District 10, Class A-AA in soccer; District 11, Region 5 in bowling; the Middle TN section in track and field; Region 3, Class A-AA in individual wrestling; Region 8, Class A-AA in dual wrestling; and in Class A, District 10, Region 5 for all other sports.  In football, they will be DI, 1A, Region 5 but cannot participate in the football playoffs during the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years.  This is due to the fact that region schedules for the next two years have been completed and the school will have to play an independent schedule.

 

With Hunters Lane, Whites Creek and Maplewood splitting player pools already ..this will be interesting change for the area..

I have a question about Republic High School? Won't they be moved up to 2A after two years in 1A? Their numbers will be high 2A numbers by then.

So you are saying they wont be playing the teams in their Region in 2017 or not!?!?!?

I would think they would be competing in 1A for 2017 and 2018 seasons, but then will be placed in a 2A region.

Yes! thats how i understand it but he said a independant schedule! Have not seen our Schedule for Monterey yet so dont know if they are on it or not!

With the right coach could they be competitive next year? Boski, have you heard anything on who they played this past year and how they did?

This being their first year ..they would only have had a freshman team.

I'm really not sure if they had football team this year ..they have played teams like KIPPNC  in JV and Varsity basketball and Lipscomb Academy girls in other sports. I cant think of many feeder schools in the area besides Brick Church Middle / Brick Church Academy to predict how good they could be.. im sure there are more i just cant think of any at the moment ..

Projections give them 4a numbers by 2020.

Lots of questions about this job. Where will they practice, where will they play home games, how much funding is there for a hc and assistants, how long will they be around.
