Yes artis, hopefully he enjoys the next poll, and yes it's good that a team of 10 won by a few points, however Soddy had two place at 106 which got zero points for their team on the second wrestler when they prob could have wrestled prestwood at 113 where he has been and gotten a few points from him, also at 195 their JV guy placed while their varsity wrestler got hurt and had to forfeit to the JV wrestler and so those points were not there either. Again individual tourneys have very little to do with who is the better team. Seeds can make all the difference in a individual tournament, I have seen many times in my life that the first third, fourth and fifth placed kids came from same side of bracket and the third could have easily beaten the second place kid but had to wrestle the best kid. And again OW Soddy already won head to head this year vs Arlington, even if he happened earlier this year it still happened.

Thanks Cobra. The things you just described are a perfect illustration of the idea that a head to head dual score is much more reliable than an individual tournament result.

Does anyone know why McCallie split their squad this weekend?  I looks like most of their top wrestlers went to the Escape The Rock Tournament in PA but they did send their top 106 & 182 to the GP West.  Was there some special Tennessee matchups they were looking for at 106 & 182 in the GP West?

Mccallie's 106 Whitwortth is an 8th grader and in PA 8th graders are not allowed to wrestle in HS tourneys. Mccallie's 182 does not compete in sports on Sundays for Religious reason so both wrestlers competed at GP West on Saturday instead.

Actually it is probably worth noting that I didn't see any of McCallie's wrestlers in the brackets at Escape the Rock nor did I see them on the team list; despite the tweets about their wrestlers pre-seeds. It appears they may not have attended after all.

I saw something that had the McCallie 285 seeded 3rd and some others were also seeded.  As we know just because one is seeded does not mean they wrestled in the tournament.

    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
