No doubt, Key is the best player in class A basketball and hopefully he will continue to strive at the next level. I don't think he broke the 5 records that Shozen has listed? I am just basing this on recorded stats by TSSAA, so they may not be accurate?. Most points in a quarter: 23 by Trey Pearson in 2001 and 23 by Tyreke Key this year. I call that tying, not breaking. Also on the most points in a half, the record is 35 by Mike Rhodes in 1977, Key had 32 this year.

Just going by what they announced during the awards ceremony. Are you looking at the state tournament records or season records? Because from what I gathered 4 were State Tournament records and 1 was the all time single season record which is what I stated 🤔.

These are state tournament records and are listed in the back of the program. According to the radio and tv announcers, the other 2 records he was in the running for was most free throws attempted during the tournament ( record is 50 by Whitby, Key had 47) and most free throws made ( record is 41 by Amonette, Key had 37).

The one thing that I think of when the name Tyreke Key name comes up ..........  yes he is ONE of the best players in the state of Tennessee no matter what class a aa or aaa but if your like me and know this kid he has a huge heart such a sweet and kind person!!!!! I'm not coming on here to uphold his ball playing skills ( which I myself think he is one of the great players on high school level ever ) but of the way he is a great and sweet person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the kind of statement that any parent would love to hear about their child regardless of their athletic ability. I also very much agree with you about his on court ability. He will make Clay co. even more proud at the next level!! I've just become a big ISU fan again as I became when that other shy and polite young fellow went there several years ago.

The reason he put up as many points as he did is bc he plays in a weak division. I guarantee he wouldn't do that playing in D2AA andAAA or heck maybe even AA. The best overall team he ever played at clay would be average in these leagues. We will see what he does in college

Look...the young man played whomever was on the schedule and was excellent. I've been watching HS ball for a looong time, and this kid passes the eye test along with the stats. I've had the pleasure of watching in person some of the best ever from Tennessee...Bobby Parks, Steve Hamer, Sylvester Gray, Cannon Whitby, Corrie Johnson, Tony Delk, Robert Hubbs, Wayne Chism, Willie Kemp, Thaddeus Young, and the Barford kid from Jackson South Side come to mind immediately...not "name dropping", just telling you that you could easily tell how good all those guys were no matter the level of competition, and Key is right there with them. I'm not knocking the rest of the Clay County team, but without him they probably don't sniff a substate game, yet with better game planning in the last two minutes, he probably has that gold basketball polished up in Clay's trophy case. Don't hate on the kid because of who he didn't face, that was beyond his control.
