Time to do away with the "sub states"...

Maybe that is what I am really trying to say...the 8 teams that make it to the Boro aren't necessarily the best teams.

They may not be the eight "best" teams. But they are the ones who made it. In tournament time, that's all that matters. Besides, it's very likely that the best team is among the eight who made it.

The only change I would make to the current format is to get rid of districts and regionals at 1 location. This leads to some unnecessary travel and some empty gyms. Higher seed hostS. If you get 2 #1 seeds in region finals then alternate years between the district.

I believe each district is allowed to set up their tournaments as they see fit. For example, this season District 11 AAA had all of their games at Centennial. But District 10 AA played their games at the higher seeds until the semi-finals. Both regions (6AAA and 5AA) switch which district will host the regional tournaments.

Totally agree. This would stop teams from throwing games which happens more often than people think.

The district tournament is put on by each individual district to decide who goes to region.

Only thing I would change is I wish they would only take 3 from each district into the regionals. That way the consolation game really means something.

Everyone play everyone. That way single a church league players can play real teams.

Plenty of single A teams do fine against AAA teams. I remember one year when Pickett County was unbeaten and so was White County in AAA and they met in a Christmas tournament at Livingston. It went into overtime with White County winning on a last second shot. They weren't called for goal tending on PC's final shot, got the rebound and made their last shot. In girls' this year the PC girls beat every AA and AAA team they played. Just because you keep saying A is church league doesn't make it true.

Don't ruin a good system. Making the Sub-State is a big deal and should be kept. Several years ago TSSAA messed with the playoffs and quickly went back to the much better Sub-State.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I remember that year. In girls BBall Jackson Co. was #3 out of the district. Went to super  regional played at McMinn highschool gym and lost to McMinn Central in the final, and went to the 'boro as #2. That was the first of a 4 year championship run.

    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
