Not true when you are only catching up with the other schools.  If you were building better facilities than MBA, McCallie, Ensworth, BA, etc... you could say that but not now.  Sorry for being blunt but D2AAA (I know that LA is D2AA) is small college football and that is who LA competes against for student athletes.  Lipscomb Academy  must spend big bucks for facilities (both athletic and academic), financial aid and academics just to get into the game with some schools.  It's nothing more than an arms race and I personally feel that it may be a never ending black hole that you would be throwing money into.

Here's the problem with the money - "Technically" financial aid cannot be for students' athletic abilities but must be need based. Now, I know schools get around/break those rules. But if you are trying to be "law abiding citizens" you can't use your money to subsidize athlete's tuition, UNLESS they demonstrate financial need (however that's defined).

I agree that it’s not an issue best solved by money. I don’t want it to look like I’m beating my chest as a CPA homer, but CPA is proof there is another way. 

You need to develop the kids you have. You need to present sports as something bigger than just winning. A head coach that does this along with a great strength and conditioning program is the key to developing the athletes you already have without trying to be a part of the arms race.  

When your non-starters are benching 315 and squatting 400, you’re gonna have a dang good team.  CPA has developed a culture that everyone wants to play sports whether they get to play much or not.  Out of maybe 220 boys in high school, 91 play football. I think that’s astonishing. And it would be higher but some have chosen specialize in another sport.

CPA has built an incredible athletic program but its been with $$$. None of the current accomplishments happen without the investment in Drew, Ingle, etc. It starts there.

That’s my point. You get the right coaches via the right AD. You don’t buy players like a lot of outsiders think occurs.  The right coaches will develop the kids that are already there.

can tell you for sure ND ant got the money.....they even have their own Diaconate to take care of the facilities......Look at the catholic schools and the facilities and programs that have their own Diacese in town to take car of them.......Knoxville, Nashville Memphis.....ND is the only one without a turf field and track.........ND is doin what their doin right now with a President, AD and a HC that all have the same vision and support one another

Some of what is being talked about here was once going on at the school and probably is still in some form.  In the mid 2000's Lipscomb went to 4 state titles in 6 years with two trips to the semi-finals.  They beat some great teams during those years. So knowing what it takes to win is more than likely not a foreign concept.  Facilities are important but that's part of it not all of it. Lipscomb right now has a lot of factors working against them.  Some of those will change and some can change.  Only time will tell but as for now the talent gap is noticeable and this transition for the school in many ways is going to take time like it or not.

The "talent gap" might be noticeable, but it's not winless season noticeable, or at least shouldn't be. At some point you have to look at how the "talent.." is being utilized. In my opinion, that falls on the coaches and making the proper adjustments. We all know the definition of insanity...

Just to clarify most of my reamarkS were referring to competing for championships in all sports at the division 2 level as well as football.  As for football only time will tell.  However I don't know if this is a foreshadowing or not but seemingly FRA, BGA, Father Ryan, Pope John Paul, Goodpasture, Davidson Academy, Ezell haven't figured out thriving success either.  So again only time will tell.  In reality many of the aforementioned schools competition is the growth and product of Williamson County schools not the bigger D2 programs.

You are correct in that you have to recruit players, I'm just not sure our admin sees it that way also.  Time will tell.

Throwing my two cents in here. Everything is cylindrical. DL is down now while CPA is up. That will reverse in time.

Strange thing is that DL has been declining for almost a decade now.
