No, they are leaving early Saturday morning for competition in Winston Salem, NC.

Ten years ago when my youngest daughter graduated, the cost for an away game trip for the band was $7000. Seven charter buses and a semi for equipment. Fees, fundraisers, gifts paid for it.     I wonder what it costs today.  Has to be a factor too.

I don't know the exact cost but it has to be a lot. They are very fortunate to have the support of the community. I love my football but if you have never seen these kids compete at one of these national shows your missing out.

Oh, I know.  Been there, done that.  Western Carolina Tournament of Champions, Murfreesboro Contest of Champions, Towson Md Bands of America regional (1st time 3rd place BOA regional), lots of local contests.  Never been to Atlanta or Winston Salem BOA.  We were at the Contest of Champions the first time they beat the big Nashville bands.  Those shows put the traditional football halftime show to shame.  Most people don't know that they have a football show and a competitive show.  Then last year they made finals at Lucas Oil Stadium and came in 10th in the nation out of 100 competing.

Would love to see the same kind of program buildup happen to football.  Shame that when you have really good players like this year that the team just seems average.

After seeing both teams this year, I'll take DB. I think they're the better team and also if DB wins, it will make WaCoLoco very unhappy!  WaCoLoCo has belittled and disparaged the DB defensive backs and the coaches will be his next target. He has no sense of logic so it really doesn't matter if DB wins impressively or loses...he will find some aspect of the team to attack or make fun of, and he will attempt to humiliate their coach...but I'll still pull for DB in this one and I expect them to win unless they still have a hangover from the their win over Farragut.

I hereby declare WaCoLoCo to be the most miserable human alive.....he hates it when his team loses and he especially hates it when his team wins!!!!

Stop stalking Waco, bro. I'm starting to worry about you.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
