Seth Carlisle QB/FS - Macon County #15

1050 yards passing 12 TD's

1192 yards rushing 17 TD's

Also plays safety on defense. Has over 30 tackles and an Interception return for TD.

4.0 GPA with offers from Navy and TN Tech.

Gotta second Carlisle. Not sure any one player means as much to his team as Carlisle does to MC.

If the strength of schedule goes into this, then DeCourtney Reed from Haywood County should win this easily. The Tomcats beat 5A Henry County, which the Patriots are 5-3 with two of three losses coming to Beech and 6A Germantown which they are both (Beech and Germantown) remain undefeated.

Haywood lost to Briarcrest Christian by 1 point at home (Briarcrest scored a TD at the end and got a 2 point conversion to win it). The Saints are 7-1 with a loss to Christian Brothers (who are still undefeated)

Haywood also lost to Memphis University School (MUS) who are 4-4 but their losses came to Briarcrest, South Panola (MS) which is normally a powerhouse in MS, Montgomery Bell in 2 OT's, and Seminole Ridge (FL), a Florida team, that's all you need to know.

Briarcrest and MUS are both D-2AAA schools

They also beat Crockett County which are 7-1 which they obviously have a loss to Haywood.

Quickest athlete I have ever seen and he has the ability to go into 5th gear when he sees that hole.

130 carries, 18 touchdowns (he had a 5 TD performance against Crockett County),  9.7 yards per carry, and 1,264 yards (200 yard game against Crockett County).

Steve Hookfin doesn't schedule weak opponents and I am not a Haywood fan, but that's all you need to know.

I'll be supporting #80 Thomas Burks of Blackman for Mr. Football Kicker award.   He's an amazing young man (Student body president) and has amazing career stats!  He's really done well at kicking camps across the country this year.   His stats this year so far are 47 or 47 on PAT's 1 of 2 on Field Goals (that offense doesn't attempt many field goals) 43 yard punt average, kickoffs-89% are touchbacks with a 67 yard average and long of 78 yards.

He's an outstanding young man and I'd love for you to check out his high light video.   Oh, and I'm not related, just a fan!

Lead, does the Liggett kid have any scholly offers? I used to know some of his people (I think) but haven't had contact in a while.

I honestly do not know but it would be hard to imagine that he doesn't. I'll do some digging and get back to you on this one.

Mr. Football has always suffered from an identity crisis similar to the Heisman.  Is the award about the player with the most impressive stats?  Should it go to the player who is the most valuable to his team? Should it go the player who is the best overall football player regardless if his team is not very good and hasn't won many games?  Depending on how you answer these questions, you would likely be choosing different guys.

I also think it is sad that people are voting on this award who haven't watched hardly any games except those involving the teams they cover.  Some voters take the job seriously and put in the necessary work of seeing other games and watching film.  But from what i gather from people close to the process, most do not.  You can talk to people and get others' opinion, but as we see on here, people are biased and will hype up their guys (which is understandable).

I think having a mix is always a good way of looking at it. It's easy to build up huge stats against weak teams. If that was the criteria Ethan Thomas should have won it a few years back as he was all over the TN record books. I think Greeneville QB should be strongly considered. His stats are not only great but he has played against some stiff competition in Science Hill, DB, Elizabethton, Mo. West. And that's only this year.

    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
