Region 5-4A 2018

So glad it’s almost football time. What are everyone’s thoughts on the region this year? Can Springfield win it this year? The Jackets have to replace a couple of WRs, some linemen, a couple of LBs, and one of their two QBs that played last year. I hear Creekwood returns almost if not all of their starters from last year. White House loses a lot but they are the defending region champs. Greenbrier should be decent again. I don’t know much about Montgomery Central or Portland. Heritage has nowhere to go but up after going 0-10.

FWIW, Sonny Moore’s power ratings list the region in the following order: Springfield, Greenbrier, White House, Creekwood, WH Heritage, Montgomery Central, and then Portland.

Looking forward to the discussion.

Jackets should win it. Last year they where hands down the best in region and it showe come playoff time. Playing good out of region games helps.

Hands down? There was only one team that went undefeated in region play last year and it wasn't Springfield.  I agree their out of region games prepared them better for the playoffs though.

Yes hands down.  The region is not very good. You guys won last year but if you think for a second injuries early in that game didnt help you your a fool. It showed come playoff time. You had a great year and congrats, but until Porter gets off his high horse and quits scheduling cupcakes to pad his record your not gonna make a playoff run. That guy kills me.

I mean yes injuries can affect a game, but we had injuries too.  That’s just part of it.  If losing a couple guys causes you to suck then I don’t think you’re hands down better.   Anyone that was at the game last year will tell you that White House just flat out wanted that game more than Springfield did.  At least that’s how it looked from where I was sitting.  Bottom line is White House won the region last year, not Springfield. I can’t wait for this season to start.

The real bottom line is that White House gets to hang up a Region Champ banner, while Springfield displays a Silver Football in the trophy case.

WH losing their OL/DL will hurt for sure. They’ve got some skill guys back but need to be able to protect Nixon. Don’t know many who celebrate the silver ball. Good luck this season! BDP!

    • Now that wouldn’t surprise me a bit. That has been going on heavily since the days of Larry Kerr @ AC. One of the major reasons CC has never really had much at all, barring about 2 seasons in football. AC milks it dry.
    • Interesting how quite it is. Rumors are going around that Anderson County is being looked at by TSSAA for recruiting violations with the Campbell County transfers.
    • I heard from a member of the teaching staff that there has been a dispute over use of the game field between football, and girls lacrosse team. Girls had a game and wanted to warm up and football coaches did want to leave. The football coaches came down hard with some bad vulgar language and the girls lacrosse backed down. What a classy act BHS athletics has become.
    • The lawsuit requests a jury trial. Sable Winfree has extremely competent legal representation. FYI - her lawyer represented the Warren County school system for years, and I believe he knows what constitutes a reasonable lawsuit.
