I know all those championships make you fellers happy but The Barn was brought up when there were 3 classes with about 120 in each and they picked 12 schools for the playoffs. I seen plenty of 9-1 teams set at home in my day. Calling myself the state champions over fifty schools across the state in a watered down system where 1-9 teams are forced to go to the playoffs or forfeit the coaches first born child is pretty stupid. I'm not sure every town in Tennessee wasn't the state champion in something over the past few years.

Yeah, your stats run from 1A through 6A Barn and also DII. Just so you realize....:thumb:

All those teams were combined into 3 classes back in those days then the T$$AA started getting greedy and we have the mess we're in today. It's the long trips to nowhere for season games is where we all lose.

Yup! I feel ya! Alcoa has a few Championships from that era. 1989 was the latest. Nothing new there!

Ha! AJ and Tee are always in Alcoa. They only go to Maryville on Friday night. Don't think it would be very at all to flip them to Maroon and Aluminum! B)

Heck, I think I saw one of them walking out of history class at Alcoa yesterday.... B)

Yup and no DII. Alcoa still won three Championships in the 70's and took Brentwood Academy down for another in 1989!

1989 was Alcoa's best team, they may have been the best in the state that year. Henry and Williams went to Tennessee and Mitchell to Georgia. Williams and Mitchell went pro. I always though Mitchell was the best linebacker I have ever seen besides Danny Spradlin, Was very surprised he ended up as a TE  considering how hard he could hit.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
