Meigs vs. Cumberland Gap

First district game of the season for both teams. To date Meigs is Steamrolling the competition this year, but our strength of schedule is about to pick up. Any CG fans wanna elaborate on your team this year?

Just looking at the score from last year tells me Meigs should continue to roll!! Don't know much about CG or whether home field advantage will make the game closer.

Yep no schedule strength yet.Roll Meigs roll.

I believe that CG finished strong last year but not sure about how many starters they returned or any of that.  I would like to see Meigs come out at turn it up a notch.

Think they got better as the year progressed. Played Sullivan North to a 22-15 loss in the playoffs first round. Very respectable considering it was 1st seed vs 4th. They are 2-0 on the season and I know one was a squeaker. Not sure the quality of competition they have had. Our game last year was 42-15 if my memory serves starters in whole game about. Took a commanding lead but took 4 quarters to do it respectably.

To me it looks like they are being very careful with Swafford, 6 or 7 carries a game so far, and I say this game will be about the same, I would say they won’t open it up until Rockwood and Oneida comes around.

I also agree. Both games we been up 21-0 end of first. We in my opinion play conservatively both games after start of the second. That being said I'm very proud of the young men and their effort on the field this year. I'm curious as to the status of Martin Smith and Will Meadows. Also Luke Hair got a little banged up but he is also dealing with a preexisting injury from a car wreck a couple weeks ago.

Cumberland Gap is down from last year. Lost several good players. Don't see this one being much of a game. Just hoping it won't rain and we can stay healthy.

I was hoping to see Martin play, when you see him on the sideline, you can tell that young man has been in the weight room, he really looks the part.

He looked like a much bigger, stronger, and faster back in the scrimmages vs Loudon, and Kingston. Shame he got hurt and missing some of his senior season. Even now I feel he will have a major impact when he gets to return, despite missing a few games.

Smith is a great young man. The week after he was injured I saw him walking into school carrying crutches under one arm and his blender under the other.  Strongest guy on the team.
