You would have to travel if a region 8 team is still standing in the quarterfinals. That would be their #1 seed or #3 seed.

It's that bottom of the brackets turn to host the quarterfinals unless you meet a team from your own region and you finished higher in your region, which you have.

I forget about that. I personally don’t agree with how TSSAA does that. They pick a certain region to host quarterfinals & a certain quad to host the semis. I think it should go to the top seed & if the seeds are equal, then go to overall record. It’s almost defeats the purpose of have a good record when you get to that point.

I understand.  I like the rotation myself.

One needs to understand the playoffs are a whole new season.  Once you get to the quarterfinals no seeding comes into play unless you are matched against a team from your own region.

All quarterfinal teams are 2-0 at that point.

No perfect system.  Some regions are stacked with tougher teams.  Some regions play easier schedules.  It is what it is. Just rotate it and let a certain area of the State get a chance to host.

And if your region is really tougher then your 2nd seed should be able to win that part of the bracket and there won't be any concern about it.

You bring up valid points as well. I honestly see both sides of it. In the end, if you want that gold ball, you gotta win no matter what anyway.

If you have a strong #2 seed in your region they can go down and clean out that portion of the bracket.  It helps.  When you have a weak #2 seed in your region it won't help at all.

There are only 4 regions that get home field advantage throughout the playoffs unless there's an upset.

That being: Region 1, Region 4, Region 5 and Region 8.

Region 2, Region 3, Region 6 and Region 7 can not host throughout unless there's an upset in the playoff bracket.

Region 2, 3, 6 and 7 get the quarterfinals one year then the semifinals the next.

The four that get home field throughout gets the quarters & semis the same year but nothing the next.

That's assuming there's no upsets in the brackets at all.

^ True Story.
