We broke off the big run then another first down when one of our kids was called for unsportsmanlike after the play after one of the Maryville lineman was rolling our kid across the field after the play right in front of the ref. At that point it was 1st and 25. We ran a play with the marker showing 1st down for little to no gain. At that point the refs changed it from 2nd to 3rd down. No explanation for why, just changed it. Coach Carter can be seen questioning him on the sidelines about the down when the same ref drops another flag. At that point it gets ugly and its 3rd & 66 or so from that point game over. I would have reacted the same way coach did. The refs were stealing from us right in front of our eyes and we couldn't  talk to the ref on our sidelines or it was a 15 yarder. Did it cost us the game no but at that point we had a chance to be somewhat competitive. Its sad at that level for both sides to have incompetent officials. I love our coach and believe he did the right thing standing up for our kids & team. Go Toppers!!!!  

What was the reason for the flag at the handshake?

Wrong.  Film shows the lineman trying to get up and off of the SH player when the SHHS player rolls HIMSELF away quickly causing the Maryville player to fall back down on him.  I could see from your side of the stands that you would think it was the MHS player pushing after the whistle, but that's not what's on film.

Both players were still "playing after the whistle" so to speak, but there was nothing malicious about either of these movements, and nothing unsportsmanlike... you know... until the kid started screaming at the ref.

They did miss the down, though.  I have no idea why it went from 2nd to 3rd down.  Seems like the refs let it all get out of control, too.  The ref on the SH sideline should have de-escalated instead of immediately flagging.  Easy to ignore blabbing coaches so long as they're not being super personal.

Your exactly right!!! Never seen a ref so super sensitive. I have seen Stacy mad and probably deserved to get tossed but this was awful. This guy had an agenda.

Probably not an agenda, these are out of town refs... but yeah, probably an ego.

Go back and watch the film. The side judge blew the whistle ready for play. We kicked the ball like we should have. The side judge didn't have the guts to tell the head ref he had blew the whistle. Didn't really matter at that point but just shows incompetence. 

He must have been on your side. I was keeping up with the one on my side. The crew was incompetent. The 11th man penalty was crazy. These guys were not local though.
