Don't count on many big plays this year. Graham, Booker, and Pendergrass are gone and there is no one on this team that I know about that can provide that type of big play potential. I do agree that this team will improve over the course of the season but despite Wi"mllie's totally mindless rants, this is a team that should NOT win a region title, and a team that will likely finish third or fourth in the region. The one thing that may be a positive is that by playoff time, OR might be just as good or better than a few teams that they lost to during the regular season.

My posts are not "totally mindless rants."

Is Big Ed's still a good place to go eat during football season? I plan on going there Friday but a few people from Maryville are turning their noses up like it's went to the dogs or something.

I will admit I have heard a few say Big Ed's has lost a step over the past few years. However, I still think the explosion out of the oven is still there and well worth the ticket. One thing I understand is that all the decorations on the wall probably do nothing for an out of town visitor. The UT stuff would be of interest to some though, My opinion is go to Big Ed;s, enjoy the company you are with, order your favorite pie and drink and then watch an exciting scrimmage. Oh, if I were a Maryville fan, I would sit on the Oak Ridge side due to the sun being in the visitors' eyes.

MORE Jacob Adams news from the Oak Ridger...

According to a family member, a recruiting evaluation group called Red Zone Prospects made up of a NFL Veteran Committee has rated Jacob a THREE STAR RECRUIT.

Their take on Jacob is, " Good size, speed, strength and stamina, Adams possesses the skill set that most coaches are looking for at the next level. It's only a matter of time before interest from teams start to materialize. He projects as an Division I-A or I-AA recruit. "

The family member also mentioned UT-Chattanooga is showing interest.

    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
