Olinger wasnt the DC. Coley was for half the year and he is now a DC at a 6A school in South FL. Petty took over after he stepped down and he is now retired. Olinger will do fine at Whitwell. Boldin has made a great hire on the defensive side. It will be released soon.

Sitting and watching practice and all I can say is 2 A you are on notice !!!! This is the biggest fastest most athletic and highest football IQ team the Tide has ever fielded !!!!!!! Vaughn is lighting and will juke you outta your cleats , Jarel is bigger and Jaq is his hard running self !!!!!! Gold Doc had the correct diagnosis about the Line play , Huge and fast  !!!!!!

              2019 STARTS NOW

            AND ENDS IN GOLD

              THE GOLDEN TIDE

                          RISES

Alot of hard work put in tonight !! I dare to say the Golden Tide will be better on the D side than last year !!!! Baugus is , well Baugus !!!! The size of team for 2 A ball will help, we have enough linemen to sub now !!!! Great things ahead this year !

Mustangs have a 22-6 all time record against the yellow elephants. Yall ain't never put much heat on us.

A lot of those games were toss ups.  But you guys have had the upper hand.  But like Pride said, that was before Peabody became a football power.  The last time we played yall we came from behind 3 tds to win by 3 tds

We are very physical. the way the teams split tonight is a making of, well, two football teams that could split and be one of the better 2A teams in the state.  We gave up six points a game last year and it may very well be a better defensive year next season.

Good point we just rocked a scrimmage with both sides Gold Tide and White Tide being good enough to compete in 2A , kinda scary, well not for us but others !!!

our lineman are huge.  6 footers over 275 and 300 pounders that can move.  We got a super soph  lineman brewing that no one saw coming.  He's got next.  The S. Gibson transfer is a beast.  The Hopkins kid is strong as a mule and the transfer from Dickson County is a very good addition.  We are loaded

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
