A8 Refs are getting worse every game

Let's just cast your vote for setting the bar low and anytime you get a game where there is more whistles good than bad it's a good game.

There were several games that I worked in which the refs acknowledged that the fans cause them to think long and hard about continuing to call games. I completely agree with where your post is leading... There's much room for improvement in "fan etiquette". Whenever and wherever possible, I choose carefully where I sit/stand, and whom I'm around, because the color of the uniform affects the judgement of most people regarding the rules, and most feel that the price of admission gives them the right to criticize the officials, coaches, and players.

   I'm not complaining about officiating in general, just when bias against coaches or players is obvious, when game situations affect calls made or not made, and when unprofessional behavior is displayed without consequences.  

   I know personally several officials, and consider myself pretty close to a couple of them... most readily admit (without my asking) that they miss calls in the moment, and I have rarely heard them critique their co-workers performance. I also know that they have co-workers that they don't like working with, because their jobs are made much more difficult by the fan's reactions to those refs and their actions.

I totally agree with you. There are some refs that need improvement just like some fans. It’s a two way street.
