Coming from a former Polk player ( I was a freshman DD first year) and huge supporter of Davis heck after I graduated I ran the chains every year till present. If y'all do get Davis I will say y'all are getting a great coach and man. I'm bitter how the higher ups did some things. Hated seeing DD leave but don't blame him at all. Granted it will be hard seeing him in baby blue lol.   I know I rambled on but I wouldn't fault Davis taking the job at all. Give him 2 or 3 years and Central will be tough and a good team. Especially with the talent that's there he can get the ones that ain't coming out to play out there to play

Hired, or interviewed?

Neither I hope. He couldn't beat McMinn Co when he coached at Walker Valley even when he had superior teams. He's applied everywhere since Walker Valley fired him and no one has hired him, for good reason.

McMinn Central needs good leadership with several of their sports programs including football. Volleyball is terrible. Neither the baseball or softball teams have won a game this season! Other than a good girls basketball and soccer programs, none of these other sports are doing well. There's enough talent to have competitive programs in every sport.

I hear you  there. If y'all do get Davis he will change that program I promise that. And the talent that isn't playing will want to come out. I can't tell you enough how great of a coach he is and even better man. He will prepare those kids for after school as well. Like I said earlier I was a freshman his first year and he demands discipline, hard work, dedication, teamwork, accountability , and he's cares about the kids he is coaching. I hope y'all give him a hard look for sure. Definitely be hard seeing him there but I know he would do great and the school will benefit having him leading the program. Known the man and his family for 19 years and he holds a special place in my heart been there for both my parents passing and was part of molding me into the man I've become. To be honest I hope he gets it and gets the support of the administration. With the talent that's there Central can make some noise granted it would take a a year or two but give him time Central be hard to handle. I'll be keeping a eye on this thread for sure.

Do you know something the rest of us don't? I haven't even heard if he has interviewed for the job. Just seen on here where someone said he might have.

oh yea done deal. He will be named soon.

Interesting for sure I will wait and believe it when I hear an official announcement. But I was hearing and I thought he was going to East Hamilton to be the DC. Don't get me wrong I actually hope you're right be hard seeing him in Central colors but I really wish DD well and will always support him.

Don't be so sure. Some good kids on that team. Believe they will respond to a little "old school" coaching.

Might be what they need. DD can and knows how to get the best out of the kids that want to be there and put the effort in.  I'm definitely interested in this. Any word on when they thinking about hiring someone like a deadline. I know crappy time for a coach to retire when spring ball should be getting started.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
