2019 - 2020 8AA

Kauffman (I’m sure I misspelled that) could draw a foul any time she wanted to drive to the rim. Ferrell had two early fouls and was guarding her. I just feel like the coach doesn’t recognize these situations and take advantage...even if Ferrell isn’t scoring for us that’s still another decent defender and ball handler on the bench if you get her in foul trouble.

Again, coaching won that game for us. Just my humble opinion.

I’ve heard through the last few years people talk about the talent that Cannon has had but they haven’t even made it out of the district and not even had winning seasons. Where’s the tons of talent at 6aaabasketball?

In my opinion they HAVE had talent and underperformed. When they first came to Smithville and I realized who all they had returning I thought our little winning streak over them was toast.

I think their coach should of been fired last year and they let him waste that group of seniors this year if he stays there he has got some long seasons coming up with not near the talent level and poor coaching combined not a good combination to be very successful

They don't have any talent over there.   Nope!  But they are all going to play college ball next year....   **SARCASM**

Lady cavs fan I said I heard they have talent. I never said they didn’t. But what I can’t understand is If they have all that talent then why in the world have they not made it to the region since those girls have been there? This doesn’t make any sense. They have 4 girls going to play college ball and can’t do any better than that in high school? That’s absolutely crazy.

Yep I don’t think anyone at CC will disagree with you.  But talent isn’t what you should question.  What is the real reason?  I watched them play this summer in AAU and they played great.

Not trying to be disrespectful but just because those players are going on to play at the next level doesn’t mean a lot, especially at the schools you named. Roane State signs a lot of players that are average, Bryan signs some and puts them on their practice team. Not saying those players are not good just doesn’t mean as much anymore. All around the money.

I hope you have seen them play before making this statement.  That’s pretty disrespectful to the players and to the college coaches.  If you want to continue to play basketball after high school, I can assure you that it means ALOT to those players.  Most of those players had offers to multiple schools.   You can talk about the college teams if you want but you shouldn’t discredit the accomplishments of these players or any player that gets a chance to do something they love at the next level.  It isn’t as easy as you make it sound.  And there will be many players that never get that chance.

Totally not meant the way you’re taking it, I’m sure those girls are good players, I’m just saying just because you have 3 or 4 players going to the next level doesn’t mean you will win at the high school level.

Not everyone can go to UT or UConn. Cannon had talent (all of them made the 2nd or 3rd all district team in a district with 2 miss Basketball finalists) but never got to a Regional Tournament. It shows the strength of District 8AA. As I said they went 12-2 and beat some very good teams. At least 6 teams in 8AA could win 7AA with ease.

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
