It's time to move on from the scrimmage with Maryville. While it was not a good sight at all, it means absolutely NOTHING. It hurt our pride (both fans and team) but has no impact on how this team does this season. How good is HVA, who have they scrimmaged, and how will the 'Cats rebound from the scrimmage?

So, I’m not a football expert. Just a fan, and not early as knowledgeable as many of you so I’m not sure how helpful my response will be. I saw both of HVA’s scrimmages because my nephew plays for them. HVA was clearly dominant in both scrimmages (against Halls and William Blount). I think they are strong at the QB position, and strong at D line. I think their relative weaknesses are O line and maybe the secondary. #7 for HVA is very  fast and very quick. If he gets to the outside, he can be a problem.  The have some good receivers who can make plays.

I think HVA has a solid chance against OR. That being said, I haven’t seen OR scrimmage and I wouldn’t place a lot of importance on what happened with Maryville in regards to this game. I don’t have a real prediction but I do think that the new OC at HVA was a great hire and will get them right. OR always comes to play tho and in past years, HVA tended to have problems with them so we shall see...

We all know scrimmages are to work on things that need working on. I don't put a whole lot of stock into scrimmages. But the one thing I do put importance into is heart and desire and fight in a team.

I think Oak Ridge will be just fine. I've seen OR not look good in scrimmages before and maybe even start off slow the first couple of games of the season, but Oak Ridge usually gets better as the season goes along.

Best of luck to you and hope everyone stays healthy!

Thank you 92Dragon. That's nice coming from a Clinton guy. Same to you.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
