wasnt it like 25-22 at the half?

Yes, but the flow of the game seemed to totaly be in Forrest's control.

  • Portland did not score in the second half. As in goose egg.
  • The touchdown before half was a flukey 2 min drill type thing. Receiver made a good play to get them inside the 1. I didnt think the QB sneak actually was a TD. If the ref has to run up and stare at the pile before declaring a score, it's not a score, the runner's knees were down.  The two point conversion was a good play. Forrest decided not to pressure and instead dropped guys back and Mandrell made a play.
  • Portland's D was crying uncle the entire 4th Q. They wanted no part of Forrest's run game.
  • It was 6 TDs to 3. Portland had a couple big plays. Forrest controlled time of possession, and had ground attack drives.

Rockets are growing up.

Last two year's teams would have tensed up when Portland started the comeback. These kids struggled for a couple drives, but overall showed maturity and shook off the counterpunch from the Panthers.

Good night for the coaching staff. Seniors and Juniors really showed out. Team effort.

Eagleville is 2-0. See you there.

PHS is a solid team with some good players. But, yes it was a dominant win. Statistically and physically. Forrest running back had 20 carries for right at 200 yards and 4TDs. Team had nearly 450 yards of total offense, 20 1st downs, and scored 6 TDs. Balanced offense and a hard hitting defense. Score 25-7 halfway through the 2nd quarter. Portland had two TD runs over 50 yards on a misdirection  play. Those two plays and a long pass with under 10 secs to go in the half were the only scores and likely over 50% of PHS total offensive output for the night.
