Curious what teams around the state have been release to practice during this pandemic?  Especially interested after Gov. Lee signed the new executive order allowing groups of 50.

Football players have been practicing in groups of 10 a while. I think basketball starts this week.

If football can practice in groups of 10, then why not basketball?

Think they had to wait until the last day of school. TSSAA sent a letter a few weeks ago giving summer guidelines. Time to practice. Will be interesting considering a lot of college camps won’t be open.

Open facilities and practice are two different things.  Open facilities could have been taking place during April and May but TSSAA said official practice could not begin until after each individual school systems final scheduled day of school.  I’m sure most if not all teams were following theses rules.   And yes some teams are practicing right now while others are not yet allowed to.  So TSSAA everyone is not on a level playing field right now.

If people were practicing, they were not following the stay at home order set by the governor other than essential shopping in April and May.  I agree practice just started but I don’t know the guidelines. I don’t understand how the TSSAA will throw in a dead period in about three weeks not allowing practices after no one has done anything for 2 1/2 months.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
