Upperman vs. Cookeville 2020

Not that it matters, but just for clarification, it wasn't a crack back, that has to be below the waist I think.  It also wasn't targeting like the announcers said on the broadcast. The call actually looked like it was for a blindside block, a relatively new rule.  It was a shame because if all he does is screen the guy and doesn't de-cleat him, it still goes for six.  I don't fault the young man though.  He was playing hard, it was within the context of the play (he was in the slot and the outside rusher was his responsibility) and nothing cheap,  You'll also see that happen quite often and not get called, especially when it's parallel to the line of scrimmage and in the backfield.  What he did used to be the textbook way to execute that block.  Water under the bridge now, just like many other things, they'll learn from it and get better.

There is no doubt that Cookeville looked bad on offense but I am REALLY interested in what makes you think that UHS looked like an ABOVE average 3A team?  Was it the 154 yds total offense or the 30 rushing attempts for 54 yds?  Or could it have possibly have been the 324 yds rushing they gave up on D?   They are going to be a good team but they didn’t show anything on Thursday night. You just wanted to take a dig at CHS.  That’s cool but at least back it up.

All of region 4 3A will lose in the first round of the playoffs and that includes Upperman.  Upperman is an average 3A team.  They will be 0-2 after this week
