On the 5a-6a board someone ran the numbers. Basically you are splitting around 49 to 50 each classification. Taking out the ones that don't play football or the privates. You would have 5a cut off being right at AC with 1114. So, Portland, Springfield, and AC would all be making the jump to 5a.

I have a much RIGHT to my opinion that......I don't think Covington wins multiple championships in 4A  as you for saying it! You want to get all fluffed up because of my opinion? You want to fire a round across my deck and Alcoa's for playing in 3A? Go ahead, you know what would happen if Alcoa moved to 4A. The F5 is not scared to play up! Alcoa plays three 6A teams just about every year. In 2016 Alcoa sent paperwork to TSSAA to voluntarily move up. The next day 4 teams including Fulton Voluntarily moved to 5A to escape Alcoa being in their region. Fact. So. You just keep pretending you and your team are ready for some more F5. I promise this, if Covington gets to Cookeville don't expect to see an Alcoa team similar to the one in 2017 and 2018. You better learn to throw the ball and spread the field. The one dimensional team I watched against Milan is NOT going to get it done!!!

I know Championship level high school football.

There are excellent teams in 4A. Greeneville was the team.....now Elizabethton. If Covington thinks the one dimensional team they have now can compete......more power to ya!

As a Middle TN guy I remember this like yesterday lol. We was like man everybody running from Alcoa. That was a a crazy moment.

I did this yesterday and this is what I came up with:

Class 1A:  81-347 (50 Schools)

Class 2A:  353-527 (49 Schools)

Class 3A:  535-741 (50 Schools)

Class 4A:  747-1,081 (49 Schools)

Class 5A:  1,084-1,477 (51 Schools)

Class 6A:  1,494-2,865 (50 Schools)

 

I eliminated all "non-football" playing schools and also moved all of the Division II Private Schools to a separate classification in my model.  I'm eager to see how accurate it ends up being.

This is the list I came up with based on the reported numbers. I think I may be missing at least one school, but it should be pretty close. I ended up with 294 schools in 6 classes of 49 each. The last couple schools above the cutoffs could ultimately move down, as I didn't factor in schools that may request to move up a class or the reports that some numbers may need to be corrected. Also, if I missed a school with a smaller enrollment, a school just below the cutoff could move up.
