Round 1 - Cornersville @ Huntingdon

From a guy that don’t really know that much about R5 A I think mustangs win this one by 20+. I don’t mean this in a negative way but Cville is a #4 seed and at this level first round games are usually pretty ugly for those lower seeds. Plus I don’t think Huntingdon will let off the gas peddle when they get up in this one. That game two years ago on the magic carpet still leaves a bad taste in their mouth I don’t care what they say.

Does anyone give the Dawgs a chance in this game?  Is there anything that they can do to pull an upset as a #4 seed?  I agree with GODAWGS89 that the Dawgs will have to have the backups play a pretty solid game.  So if these backups do, is Huntingdon susceptible to anything?  I have heard that Huntingdon lost a lot of good players from last season but it looks like they have filled in pretty nicely (record wise, haven't actually seen them play in person). So, is there anything that Huntingdon fans feel a little iffy about from their team?

Huntingdon is tough against the run. Really run to the ball well. Pretty physical up front. Pass defense is questionable, though our pass rush is good. I would say a pass heavy team could give us trouble. Offensively we're not nearly as dynamic as the last few Mustang teams. We're gonna pound it on the ground but we can throw it if need be. QB has big arm. This Mustang squad is very young with some question Mark's but I really like this group of kids. They play tough, clean ball. Look forward to playing the Bulldogs. I expect a tough, physical contest.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
