Tyner HC forced to resign

They’ll likely regret that. Tells me all I need to know about the Tyner administration.

They likely already have someone in mind or they wouldn't have forced him out after one bad season. I'm curious what his record is for the last 5 years. Even 10 years for that matter. Reminds me of what they did to Philip Fulmer. Fulmer wasn't a bad coach ever at Tennessee imo. His downfall was the loss of David Cutcliffe and not hiring a worthy replacement for such a great offensive mind in the offensive coordinator position. Just my opinion.

39-21, average of about 8-4 over the last 5 years. It seems as if it could have been done much better for sure. But there is no way Tyner should be held to 26 yards and beaten like they were  the other night against anyone in 2A.

They will most likely regret this. Coaching at Tyner requires alot more than just football knowledge.

I saw them play in person this year and they were definitely down from years past teams. 2017 they played for state in 2A. Short memory span in that area I guess. Meigs has played Trousdale enough to know what kind of stifling defense they normally have ours is similiar. Not many teams in 2A have a defense as well put together in 2A. It's a shame that a year of just weaker than average players netted this kind of move really. Last year the score was 35-0 in Trousdales favor but their record was good last year.

Thanks for looking that up man. 8-4 would be great seasons for most teams.

People's way of thinking has changed over the years, but more so over the last ten than ever before. Loyalty and earned respect are almost a thing of the past. From what I read, the outgoing coach is responsible for Tyner's tradition of good, solid football. I get that the administration has a responsibility to provide the kids with the best possible experience while there for their four years, and that it doesn't matter to them the accumulated "respect" earned in the past. What I do get is that coaching usually catches the blame for any and every little thing that prevents winning, and that setting high standards from the past can be a detriment when things hit the skids, fault of the coaches or not. Sounds as if the man deserved better.

When you played Tyner, you knew you were in for a hard hitting game for 4 quarters. Wayne also had his kids play clean football. Huge amount of respect for him and his staff. I assure you they will regret this action because it wasn’t just about the wins to Wayne, he was invested in those kids in making them young men that had a positive impact on society after they left school.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
