Upperman (How do they reload every year? Good coach but team could lead state in technicals)

Watertown (transfers help but awesome coach and athletic)

York ( That post is a 17 year old senior and have a bunch of good young players)

livingston ( they go as sells go but have a good chance to beat people)

Cannon ( Gus and some good post)

Tie with Dekalb ( good size , quick guards)

Macon ( Got some good shooters and will let you know when they score)

Smith ( no seniors, 1 junior , bunch of sophomores and a few freshman)

This could be the last year of the reload for Upperman. Most of the team are seniors that have been there 4 years. Will be interesting to see.

Upperman - should easily win this district.  No contest.

Livingston - im just high on sells.  May be the most talented kid around

York/Cannon

Watertown

Everyone else

I’d say Slatten from White County might have something to say about being the best player in the Upper Cumberland but I agree Sells is certainly in the conversation as is Strong from Clay County.

Upperman is the best team in 8AA and in the entire UpperCumberland for that matter. I’m not saying they won’t lose a game here or there but they will have to play bad to lose a district game this year.

Slatten is probably the better all around basketball player.    But I'd argue alot of that has to do with his athletic ability over sells.     I still believe Sells is the most gifted, skill wise.    Either way - we are splitting hairs probably with those 3.  All great players.

Totally agree. All 3 great athletes and good young men!  They represent their schools well and the UC!

I talked to couple parents and they said Dekalb just flat beat them. They were ready and played their buts off. I might have to change my predictions but I’m gonna hang with what I picked.....

I see where DC took them Bees to task the other night, so DC may be (may be) a little better than most thought.  Beating Watertown and making Upperman sweat a little ( at Upperman )   Good to see them competitive.

And ya know what, it's them same coaches they had for the past 2 years, Reckon they just now got one of them Books...Basketball for Dummies, :D

I wonder where ole Iceman is with his moaning and groaning  about how terrible his team is.  It's become an annual tradition,,,.. What about it Icy, guess if you can say something bad, don't say anything at all...…..

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say the have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
