"The bill, which was voted on 36-0, will allow high school seniors this year the ability to stay on and have an extra year of school in 2021-22. Included in that provision is an additional year of eligibility for athletics."

Will any Tennessee kids in border counties be able to take advantage of this? What are the ramifications of KY teams playing out of state. Do you want your 14 year old playing against a 20 year old? This gives new meaning to "goin' back to Harlan". - RR

This is going to be very problematic for a lot of teams that have games scheduled in Kentucky. I wonder if the TSSAA will step in and shut those games down. It is ultimately their responsibilty to look out for the well being of the players, even though that's hard to believe sometimes.

This makes me feel bad for the kids who was waiting for their chance to start

Plus, many players get recognized during their senior years as far as college scholarships go.  I can see both sides of this issue.  If my kid lost his season year and didn't get his chance to shine and possibly earn a scholarship, I'd be all for the extra year.

Yea it’s a catch 22. Just wondering how will they handle it if players from other states try to move in.

Absolutely ridiculous idea.  Hinders the kids a class behind.  Prioritizes Athletics over academics.  The epitome of poor decision making.

NCAA screwed incoming freshman out of opportunities by granting an extra year, so KY screws Juniors out of playtime.  Why not allow every 8th grader to reclass while we're at  it.

Morons.

It’s for every grade level in KY. The caveat is that the kid cannot turn 19 before August 1st and had to be enrolled in a KY school district when the 20-21 school year began.

If your school district doesn’t allow for this, then you CANNOT transfer to another school district that may allow it.

Still has to go through the House. If the House passes it then the Governor has to sign off on it. Still not a sure bet.

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
