This afternoon, Trinity Christian Academy announced that Dexter Williams will be the next head boys basketball coach and athletic director for the Lions.

Big time hire!!!

Congratulations to Coach Williams and the TCA community. As stated throughout this thread, Dexter is fantastic coach, but an even better man.

Congrats to you "other" Lions!!!

Not sure that Williams is better than Northcutt at X's and O's, but he's absolutely as good at motivation and discipline as they come. He's also got that "it" factor that I used to needle Stroup about having... he'd make a great used car salesman if this coaching thing don't work out, and your numbers will show that soon.

Hey trader it is late but your folks can watch your lady lions in softball on west tennesse sports on face book if interested. New thing we are doing offering softball and baseball on line

Heard his daughter is going to play for TCA. Good basketball player. What is the TSSAA rule on moving from public to private and with a parent working for the private school?? She immediately elgible at TCA?? Big pickup for TCA.

Not 100%, but I believe that it's a transfer and be eligible immediately situation.

Immediately eligible because the parent is the coach/faculty member. True for both public and private schools.

Didn’t know that. Probably won’t be a change of address  with both schools being that close unless they had too. I didn’t know the rule on it. She is a good player and I think it will be good for her having a fresh start. TCA is a really good program.

Sounds like you all hit a home run on every aspect of a good hire.

I am a Gibson County Lady Pioneer Fan but I do think it was a great hire for their boys and the girls team picks up a solid player with lots of potential. Win for TCA both boys program and girls program.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
