The scrimmage started out varsity and played hr or so. Then freshman played for a bit. Then varsity came back and then ended with JV and freshman mix. Jackets went on defense first and the front 7- 8 guys dominated causing the Patriots to punt. We drive and settle for a 40ish yd fg down the middle.

I don’t remember Jackets allowing a first down in the first hr. Later Jackets had the ball on about Patriots 40 and first play Devon throws a slant over top of the defense for about 20 yds to #2 and he broke a tackle and took it to the house. I can’t remember the sequence but 83 took one to the house for about 40ish yds. Boyd 21 took a sweep to the house for 50ish. Then Jackets drove down to about the 15/20 and Devon found Boyd on a fade in the corner. Both TD passes were perfect. The front 7-8 guys played very well. Turner appears to be at MLB and he was a beast. Patriots moved the ball some and scored in the varsity 2nd period.

Freshmen played hard and Jackets have a Freshman RB who may get some PT for varsity. On one play against varsity he broke just about every tackle from the 11 defenders. Have a couple of starters banged up but may be good to go in a couple of wks. The starting OL are mostly new starters with decent size. I think the team will keep improving each wk as we have seen last several yrs

Watched the middle school jamboree Saturday. Couldn’t even line up right. A lot numbers on the sideline hopefully improve each week.

I think we looked okay for this point in the season, Devin will complete a better % of his passes I believe, looking for to the season...

What are the plans for the Jamboree?

I will say their were a couple balls that went through receivers hands

I hear the Jackets play Westmoreland at the ER jamboree but not sure what time. Jackets usually played Hendersonville in it but they opted out this yr.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
