Two of my favorite people will be doing radio play by play for this game tonight.

Terry Patrick will be working the broadcast for the McMinn County radio station.  Terry is my former color commentator back in the early days when I was doing Powell High Football.

David Clary will be doing the broadcast for the Oak Ridge station broadcast.  Dave was one of my early mentors in radio, back when I first started and was doing a Blount County Game of the Week broadcast on a sister station of the old AM 1290.  I learned much of what I know about radio from Dave.  Dave has over 40 years experience in doing high school sports play by play.

Both guys are class acts, first and foremost, and both guys are tremendous and professional broadcasters.  I'll be streaming both tonight and listening to their work.

Terry had some huge shoes to fill replacing the legendary Johnny Coffman at McMinn, but he's done a great job so far.  You did a great job mentoring him!  Great all around guy!

Great post HTV!  I've never heard you on air but I'm sure you do a good job like The Voice of the Wildcats Clary and Terry Patrick.

He was a fast learner.

And I learned a lot from him, too.

Proud to call Terry a friend and colleague.

Thank you.  Had great mentors in Dave and former Blount County legend Glen Morton.  I was fortunate to be in the same radio group as both of them when I first started.

I'm not active in radio any longer.  I retired after the 2017 state championship year at Maryville due to glaucoma, which makes it difficult for me to see at night, especially under bright stadium lights.

Had a great run and festered a lot of great relationships with other radio and media guys and coaches, many of them still great friends today.  I was fortunate to be in that position.

Well HTV since David works for the Braves and there is in a celebration parade in Atlanta today  it's iffy whether he will be doing the ballgame tonite. Probably James Branson and Mike Sheehan will doing it.

Yep. I know he works for the Braves. I still communicate with him often. He and I conversed earlier in the week and he indicated he would be doing the game tonight.

Perhaps his plans had to change with his parade responsibilities.

Clary’s tweets are the quickest way to keep up with the OR score while at another game. I appreciate schools who have someone that takes care of that.

McMinn's PA guy is real good about giving "scores of interest" of area games occasionally - particularly teams from the Region. The local radio station is 101.7 if you can't pick up the Oak Ridge station.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
