I’m talking about historical programs and yes Huntingdon has a very rich history

No doubt they have a good history. Historically speaking they shouldn't bump anyone down from this list of FIVE. A strong case could be made for them to be in a top 10 though. My criteria would be gold and silver trophies. Yours may be something else. We can agree to disagree if that is the case.

Maybe some day y’all can get a gold one. Lol!

You been under a rock the past 3 years?     I cant argue with 4 of the original 5 listed the order can be manipulated as to whoever is making their case and why but I cant put Henry Co. in the Top 5 though.. Not because they havn't had success but I look at a key word being "historical", compared to these other programs and the years they have been playing, the Patriots are just mere pups..... Peabody, 101 this year and Milan 100..... Not sure how long these others have been playing but Lake Co. may still be wet behind the ears compared to these others too.

Just an FYI, while Milan still leads the series against Peabody, by a very slim margin now, due to the last 8 years Peabody winning 6 of them, during one stretch of the series Peabody won 19 consecutive games over the Dawgs...

BUT, Can't argue with the championship history that Milan has...

This thread seems so offseason.... We are in the playoffs. We have like 8 months coming up to discuss trivial crap. come on now guys...

It's Round 1 week with not many games that will be worth discussion in the area.... I think it's a good topic for this time of the year... Besides, some opinions may change depending on what happens in these playoffs you speak of.....  Just cause SGC isnt in it doesn't mean it isnt conversation worthy.... ;-)

You are correct and I didn’t say anything about playoffs. I just mentioned wins and championships. Those are important no matter how long ago.

I wouldn't put Peabody on a historical list really.   What they have done in the past 8-10 years has been phenomenal but historically they are an average team.

Trenton actually has a richer history in football than you might think.  Yes the 80s/90s/early 2000’s was a mediocre period for them.  But during the 40’s/50’s/60’s/70’s they were very successful.  Before the John Tucker years in Milan, Trenton had the far superior record of the two as well (obviously that changed up until the last 10 years). And adding what they have done lately, yes they should be on the list.

I think what Trenton has done the past 3 years definitely makes them deserving of a historical mention. I don’t see how anybody can argue that point.

Okay smart guy. Please tell exactly who is SC?

If, you were having hard time picking up on it, my comments were meant with sarcasm and a joke.

South Gibson obviously does not hold a candle historically to other school because it has only been a program for 11 season.....

True, but if you include Henry County High's predecessor, E.W. Grove High, I would definitely include the "Paris area" in the top 5.

But...I'm not gonna argue against excluding HCHS. There are other West TN programs that have been around much longer and done a lot more.

Yes sir we can agree to disagree.  I’m thinking well beyond just championships.

 you must not have noticed the lol at the end. I was trying to make a funny. Even people living under a rock knows about Peabody’s historical run they’ve been on. I hope they get another Gold ball this year. I’ll get back under my rock now.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
