It is hard to beat a good team twice? That is one of the most overused sports sayings like hard to beat a team 3 times and neither one of them are true.

Your right,It's hard to beat a good team period.First ,second or third time you play them doesn't matter.Elizabethton is not a good team.I might be wrong on these numbers but I think the worst record they have had in the last 10 years was 8-3.I believe they have won 40 out of the last 41 games  played. That's not a good team, that's a great team.

Every time anyone scores against you guys you claim it's a fluke. Was the beat down game 1 last year a fluke. Was your close loss the 2nd time around a fluke? You guys make more excuses than any other fans on here. Figured your 4 losses within the last 2 years would have humbled you some. You guys did to us this year what we did to you last year. However the 2nd game was much closer and I'll die on this hill but I feel this second game will be a lot closer than 3 tds everyone is predicting. If it isn't then I'll accept the loss no excuse but if EHS win what's the over/under on excuses from you lot? You people dissappear for 2 years then all of sudden you are contenders again you rediscover coach t.

I dont think Greeneville has disappeared in the past 13 years. If I recall correctly yall were the ones to scared to schedule us when you dropped to 3A. You done to us last year 2 games after loosing our starting quarterback to a injury.

Correct Betsy is a very good team.

I think he means some of the fan’s didn’t post any but it doesn’t matter either way because we all know these two teams will battle it out every year for the top spot. The real Cyclones fans know that we will have to play our best game of the year to beat this Devils team.

Until the new classifications come out (maybe 2024?) it will always be Greeneville/Elizabethton vying for top spot in 4A.    Both of those schools are doing what the rest of the NET schools are not doing to build a championship football program.     At some point one of these schools might slip up or down from 4A but until that happens this is the gold standard.

That's exactly what I meant. Outside of maybe 4 people here no one is a Greeneville fan unless they are favorites to win state. If they have a bad season it's crickets. Last season when they lost 3 games only maybe 2 or 3 people were consistently supporting Greeneville. Everyone disappeared until this season

I'm not a Greeneville fan during the season but I start pulling for them during the playoffs once Boone loses.         They have some hard-core fans, just not sure how many are on the "T".       BTW, tons of respect for what Elizabethton has accomplished but I still can't stand you guys (as a team, nothing personal).      Perhaps the fact that you always beat the daylights out of us doesn't help....          I have often wondered if Boone could win one game, just one, would I like the Cyclones a little better?

You guys have come super close. Eventually you might get over that hump. We did with Greeneville and Science Hill

Upperman will have a say in 4A for the foreseeable future as well as these 2 teams. We had Alcoa on the ropes a couple of years ago at home and only a botched fumble call by the refs kept us out of the title game. Greeneville is the Gold Standard in 4A and Betsy is right up there with them but Upperman is well coached and has athletes at all positions. Looking forward to a new rivalry!

Not meaning this in a bad way but upperman should be there with all the recruits they're getting from cookeville.

And no matter what you say back your gonna start hearing lots and lots more of the open enrollment recruiting thing,no reason at all cookeville jr should'nt be at the top at every sport.

Upperman would be a 3 td underdog against either Betsy or Greeneville.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
