I can't say that I disagree. I think Cloudland has both hands full on Friday night. One thing I will say is that TC and Gordonsville game is a little misleading. Was not very close till Gordy scored 2 touchdown at the very end (1 coming off an onside kick). I am not in the business of comparing scores though.... all about matchups

Preciate the assessment on the TC/Gordonsville game.  It should be a better game than the Cloudland/SP match up for sure.  Scores can be misleading sometimes.

Don't know anything about Cloudland this year but best of luck Friday. I am afraid your may need a lot of it dealing with those Pirates. I know we have had some battles with them over the years

Is Hampton better than Tyner, Meigs or Watertown?

I would compare them to Meigs, but with less speed and more size.. However, they're going to be good and we should not be overlooking them.. It's the Semis so they're doing something right.

Their offense definitely reminds me of a style that Meigs would run. Not sure you could compare them to Watertown or Tyner.... they run different schemes that Hampton does.

Been awhile since the ole MVP made an appearance on the boards. Read some here and there over this year but thought I'd chime in.

This game will be a war at the line of scrimmage. The home squad has some monsters that will be hard to move and look like they will require some double team blocks. That opens the door for one on one match-ups between the ball carrier and LBs/DBs. Then when Hampton has the ball, its going to be tough to hold that line and keep the LBs clean and free to roam. Bottom line, and I believe Coach Satt said this years ago, this game comes down to blocking and tackling. The team that does that best goes for the Gold.

Now for some none relevant memories of the '05 game. "Blue 3" was the call of the first play and I vividly remember seeing Dillehay look the Cover 3 safety off my way, then hit Harper (whose son will make his name known come Friday) in stride up the left hash mark. It was over from there. On 1 particular drive we ran 32 and 38 knock (off tackle with a kickout block by a FB or HB) probably 6, 7 maybe 8 times in a row. No Huddle calling the play out loud at the line. We changed the formation and mixed in some motion but it was the same play. After a couple of times the LBs started pointing out where we were running it. Boom there's 6 yards. Wam another 7. Bam ill take 8. Thank you mam for 9 more. Hard nosed stop it if you can football. That night we were playing for more than a opportunity to go to the ship but also for a classmate. Our starting Center, Harris, had torn his ACL the week before and we knew he could only play once more before surgery and we wanted that game to be for the Ball! Ill never forget assisting on the last tackle and rolling on top of McGowan as the final horn sounded and yelling "We Going to the Ship BABY!" Special group of guys for sure and I'm not afraid to say I love each one of them. But in all honesty though, We dont hold a candle stick to that '97 team, Wanna talk about some dudes! But that's a "debate" (not really) that's for another time and place.

For the kids involved Friday Night, Cherish the Moments! Enjoy your teammates. Be focused but take those mental pictures and stash them away. They will mean something in the future. Best of luck, safe travels to all and praying for no injuries for either team! Happy Thanksgiving!

Had a chance to hear some of the stories Friday night at H20... love hearing them. The thing that is crazy to me is they are told like they happened the night before. They are so ingrained in our memories that we could tell the exact same story word for word 30 years down the road.

On another note, I know it is a long drive to Hampton but I hope the TC faithful pile in and make the trip. I hope those Hampton fans that haven't seen a game all year come out and support their team. There isn't a whole lot that can rival a cold Friday (High of 39 in Hampton) with small division playoff football. Many will walk into opening kickoff knowing this could be it... the last time the pull on those shoulder pads and strap up that helmet.  They will not be perfect but they will play every snap hoping to be perfect, making every block and every tackle. They are playing, not for a scholarship offer but for their pride, the parents' and family's pride, and the pride of a small town with lofty expectations. Both sides deserve a packed house and a chance to play for some hardware the following week. Let's give them exactly that come Friday night.

I will get down off my soapbox now!

    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
    • No my fight, but ... if they were already college-caliber prior to transferring to BHS, and they already had FBS interest, and they end up at an FBS school, how did Bearden do anything for them?
