I promise you that this takes place at almost every school in the state every single year.  Anybody who doesn't believe that is either naive or stupid.

I'm a former coach myself- Coached high school football and high school wrestling for over 20 years across 5 different states- babysitting a few jr. high and high school track and soccer teams as well.  I promise you that it takes place at almost every school, in every sport, across every state! lol

Seeing the same ole finger pointers bringing up "recruiting" again.

Again, I challenge you to give specifics.  Exactly what are schools doing that constitutes "recruiting"?

No "I hears", or "I thinks".  Specifics, please.

When I went to Powell back in 09-12 we actually lost a lot of talent we had in middle school to CAK,Grace, and Webb who went on to win some state titles. Gained some talent due to the rezoning of central/Powell but still had weak spots like this Powell team.

Yeah, funny that it wasn't an issue then, or back when half of Central's starters were Powell zoned kids when my son was at Powell.

Just saying.

This was a heck of a game when I watched it on the tv.  Is there any way Powel can keep it together again for next year?  They losing anything?  I now page is losing some.  Witch one is losing more?

Powell doesn't lose too much - just 3 offensive starters graduate (RB - Stockton, WR - Collins, OT - Gann) and 5 defensive starters (DL - Nolen, DE - Stanford, LB - Lusby, DB - Whitehead, DB - Peterson). The defense will be the big question mark without Nolan. The interior of that defensive line will have to get a lot better.

They will probably lose a 4th offensive starter (Warren Nolen), assuming the Nolens move to College Station.

does that make Page the favorite for next year?  Looks like powel loses a lot more and they barelly squeeked it out this time.

Unless they've got another stud QB ready to start, I would think Page would come down a bit after losing McNamara. I would think Henry County has to be one of the favorites for next year.

This right here. Page was a good football team, but their success was heavily based on McNamara

So you have Powel to repeat?

Not necessarily. They’ll have several large holes to fill on defense before that could happen. I feel like they’ll have to flat outscore a lot of teams next year to get wins. Like OSU, I think ya gotta look out for Henry County.

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
