Is South Gibson a good enough job (pays enough) to pull a quality coach up from 1A/2A?

My short list to call, all with championship/runner-up experience, in alphabetical order:

Bowlin Murray KY

Comer McKenzie

Hodge Dresden

Swenson Huntingdon

I would rather have Tab Vowell or Derek Carr.

Comer will probably retire after next season championship run.

Hodge won’t leave Dresden but would be a great fit

Bowlin and Swenson offense not that exciting for the higher classifications ball

just my opinion

I don't think Bowling would move again.

I would have to imagine McKenzie would be in favorite to win a state championship. Why ruin that opportunity?

Hodge is an interesting choice. I don't think him leaving Dresden would be the best situation for him right now. Dresden needs him for what is going on.

Swenson, is an interesting choice, but it's probably a lateral choice for me. Huntingdon doesn't have to deal with Ty Simpson anymore, and I do expect a set back from MAHS. Don't know how good Union City is and Riverside is struggling to win the "big game." I can see him staying.

Nothing to report guys. Sorry. Crickets is all I am hearing. It is all rumors and hear say at this point. There has been no timetable for the announcement.

It will be interesting to see who they get and their offense philosophy. It’s hard to imagine SG running something different.

I personally think this would be an attractive job for a good coach. Maybe someone looking for a change or getting back to being a head coach possibly. Of course I’m on the outside looking In, but I feel like some coach walks in to a good situation at SGC. Stidham in IMO built a quality football program there. Always a hard working disciplined team. Great football culture for a relatively young school. Hope y’all land that type of coach again.

Stidham has done a fantastic job. I am sorely going to miss him. Hopefully, we can get a great hire and move forward.

Sounds like y’all could look at the list of applicants that Milan has, then offer a little more money than they do to their top guy.

What a way to spice up that local rivalry. And to irritate BPM at the same time.

Just a little friendly advice from Covington.

Now that just isn’t right or neighborly. Don’t give them any ideas. Lol

I love this. Who says we want a person that would apply for the Milan job?

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
