Do anybody know why the new state ranking didn’t come out? It usually be the 1st week of January.

Don’t know, but we were number 1 a lot of the year last year even going into the state and got beat. I don’t pay attention to them, because some schools may lose to a great 4 A school and get penalized.

I agree. I have always wondered how they rankings were made because strength of schedule and opponents does not seem to matter

Oh yea I know. Just like to look at them. We have been #1 all year boys & girls and lost. Only is a number that a bunch of non sports playing people guess about! Only numbers that matters is if you end the year #1 & start the next year #1

If you are talking about AP poll there was a poster on here last year that told us how it works.  They just contact writers in other regions and ask who is the best in their area. I see their point.  It’s hard to see east teams when you are a writer in the west and vice versa.

Polls are just something to look at basically. We all know the teams that are good enough to win it all. Depends on who is hot at the right time.

    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
