The real question is why would he leave JP2 for FRA

There were several reasons including a lot more money and his wife is now working at FRA.  He is a really good person that did a great job building the football program to respectability in DI-AAA.

Definitely a good coach and program builder.  I also think it was a great time for him to move on….you have the trio of QB, RB, and WR….but no one returning up front to block.

it will be interesting to see how he does and wish him the best, but he now has FRHS, LA, and BA a stone’s throw away.  That’s a much different situation than PJP2

Jeff Brothers really did a great job of building the program at JP2 and for whatever reason they refused to pay him the market rate.

He is fixing to find out the hard way both how close those as well as CPA are and also how the culture at FRA is not exactly about athletics. Not that it should be.

He's an excellent football coach.  That's a big get for FRA.  Have always been impressed with him.  Kind of fun to watch him coach--he stands alone almost in the end zone, as far down the sideline as he can get to call plays.

One thing about FRA--the school is full of current and former Titans, as well as other NFL players that have moved here.  GM Jon Robinson's kids go there.  I suspect they are looking to build up the athletics there.  I heard the school is now full with a waiting list, and that wasn't the case 10 years ago.  Their leadership has done a good job.

My understanding is there are a few former NFL players looking to join his staff.  I suppose they have kids that play football.

Perhaps the culture at FRA is changing, similar to LA, where they are willing to pay a coach ONLY a boat load of money to build a football program.

I see both sides of “attracting” players on either side of town.  Definitely more competition on your side of town with the aforementioned mentioned schools however there is not nearly population in Sumner County in which to draw.  Plus if CPA and LA eventually move to DII-AAA then Geis only needs to find 1/3 of the players to be competitive as he will not be playing BA, FRHS, Ensworth, MBA, McCallie, Knox Catholic, etc on a weekly basis.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
