Ravenwood High School (Brentwood, TN) is looking for a head boys wrestling coach.

There is a coaching search being conducted by several highly invested & supportive parents, who are ready to go all-in on supporting a new coach. Last summer, our parents spent around $25k to send most our varsity wrestlers to the Iowa Hawkeye intensive camp. The program has around 50 returning athletes and a fantastic head girls coach. Josh Peck (future TSSAA Hall of Fame Wrestling Coach) is in-building and will support the new coach as his son is a rising freshman. There is also a year-round strength training coach for the wrestling team. This year, RHS took 8 to state last year, the most in several years. We also had the first state place-winners since 2016 and the first state champion since 2014. The girls team won the region duals championship. The current 8th and 9th grade boys and girls are a special group (far better than our current upperclassmen) that the new coach can continue to grow the program around. Also, there are many youth club wrestlers that are excited to wrestle for Ravenwood. Ravenwood kids are smart, respectful & extremely committed. Further, there are basically unlimited resources at your disposal.

Best case scenario, someone with football coaching experience can coach both football as an assistant and wrestling as head coach. Our head football coach has already guaranteed an assistant football coaching position for the new wrestling coach (this should also help the new coach secure a teaching job). As a top-tier football school with many great athletes on the football team, recruiting football players for the wrestling team will be important for the wrestling teams' future success. Teaching jobs will be available. However, P.E. is unlikely.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I will do whatever I can to help the new coach transition to RHS.

    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
