Valid points. Numbers have always been small in the program. Also, I do not believe the Middle School program has the quality talent development it used to.

Not quite this small if roster is 30. Been like 40-45 last few years. But yeah never big and a lot of schools jackets plays have much larger rosters even some 1A and 2A schools.

They created 27 players last night. Last year the dreaded over 40 players in the first game. This group of kids had a hard time in pee wee and junior high everyone knew this was coming.

The Junior class has talent. But the beat lineman left the team to focus on wrestling which he won the state championship.

Talent develop isn’t about the ability you start with. It’s about improving the skill set of a player to their particular ceiling. For some kids their ceiling may be low, for example a backup that can help you survive a few games without an injured player.
 

Some fans seem to have the attitude “We don’t have championship, elite athletes so screw it. We will be good in 6 years when the pee wee kids get here.” That’s not what winning programs do.

There is more talent on the team besides the junior class.
