Hard to make that claim since AC doesn't play Oak Ridge or Clinton, so they can't be evaluated head to head.  In Clinton I keep hearing the slow, steady "Year of the Dragon" but we will see on Week 3

Be shocked if Scott doesn't move the needle in a positive way.  He's a danged good football coach.  If he can get rid of the outside clutter the program will get better and better.

That’s what I’ve always said. His West teams gave Maryville very stiff competition. Granted, those teams were very talented, but we have plenty of talent here in OR to go around too. People get fooled

You gotta keep in mind, those early 2000s teams were very poor teams. Scott didn’t have much to work with. Honestly, before he got there, West was an unknown commodity, in many ways. He was the one to actually put ‘em on the map, so to say. You can see, the longer he was there, the closer those scores became. Albeit, some still weren’t close, but as far as playing Maryville tough in those days, besides Alcoa, of course, and maybe OR (when Blade was there Maryville and OR had a few really respectable contests), I bet Maryville didn’t have a tougher opponent than those West teams, in the greater Knoxville area, that is. I forgot Central, they had some great teams, too.

 

You gotta remember, some of those Maryville teams were unreal back then. To keep the game within 21 or so was actually a pretty big accomplishment. They were head and shoulders above everyone else. Just my 2 cents.

      I absolutely love Yost and have since we went to school together, but he should have stayed with Cleveland as moving over to McCallie was a really bad decision when it comes down to winning actual state titles and your kids doing so also. As far as costs durdon,  it shows McCallie is 64k for domestic boarding students and 33 for day students, Baylor is 58 for domestic boarding and 29 for day. So when talking about that large amount of money they really are very close and really I see no reason in paying the extra bit to go to McCallie vs Baylor, both very highly thought of schools, their academic rankings are very close and heck at least Baylor has ladies going there and not having to take classes with GPS girls just to see a female. VP of my company talked to me a few years ago, his dad went to McCallie, he went to McCallie and his oldest went to McCallie, the youngest he pulled out and sent to Baylor because he hated what McCallie was becoming(his son was a D1 athlete and went to college on a full ride). Said he would never send another kid to McCallie or even think of helping a grandkid go either. This coming from a guy that didnt get a cent of financial aid to either school but was a long line of McCallie men. Said many kids that should have gotten financial aid and qualified but didnt get any because it wasnt what the school thought they should put their money towards. Pretty sad for a school with 136 million in endowment. But hey, at least they sold their soul for some football lol.

      But I do agree that that should be a no brainer.  I just confirmed he has 3 championships and he has a runner-up as well.  He coached at Oak Ridge too in 2020 when they went to state but lost.

      Well if they don't know if a person is or isn't leaving and that might be the only placement they can put a coach then they can't offer a coaching job and expect him to take in on a notion they "hope" it's open for him.  They hire the classroom or job first over the coaching position unless they know they are not giving a teaching position.

      So very tough and tight matchups with these 3 state champs for each weight going at it and I flipped back and forth on a few before just making my picks.  4-A,  3-D2,  7-AA.
