UT's offense believe it or not is predicated on running the ball really well to then set-up those deep routes Hooker is so good at hitting problem is Bama's run defense is nasty paired with the best defensive front college football has seen in a long time Hooker will not be able to have enough time for those routes to develop without a run game. Sark new this in the Texas game and Ewers was taking no longer than 2 seconds to get rid of the ball and just chunking down field to 1v1 coverage Worthy was able to get some deep shots early but Bama adjusted coverage even though QB changed it would'nt have mattered.

pretty good post. So how was Texas A&M able to drive down a couple times at will. Would you say that Huepel might at least be creative enough to scheme some things?

This is sound logic. Hooker hasn't really been tested in a top 10 matchup.  He's also been shaky with accuracy (see Florida- Tennessee shouldve won by 30)

UT's O line is the key to the game. If Bama's D line is running amok, UT will be totally out of their offense.  Huepel needs some diff settings, 2 tight ends, etc. to have extra protection. This will mean one on one on the perimeter with WR and DBs. Huepel spreads his receivers out more than anyone I've ever seen. One is on the top of mt everest and the other one is on a south pacific island. its insane.

"at will" is a strong term. Watch the final drive King was running for his life and literally throwing the ball up into double coverage which was completed by a hecka play by Stewart the A&M WR. A&M's offense was helped by Bama's turnovers and missed FG's  all night. A&M was held to season lows of 5.4 yds/pass and 2.8 yds/run. A&M never moved the ball "at Will". In comparison Bama's pass game was admittedly atrocious yet they still had 5.8 yds/pass

A&M's 2 TD drives where both following turnovers and came on a short field 1 was 30yds the other 49 yards. A&M's drives consisted of

Now you're in an area where we can talk nuts and bolts. Huepel thinks out of the box on offense...he doesn't do things just because that's the way everyone does it, every detail is examined and his plays put defenses outside their comfort zone just because they're just a little different. He ran a simple set against LSU that featured wideouts on either side and slot left...wideout and slot ran slant routes at different speeds and depths, and the TE (right) ran a drag across the middle...not only do you rely on a LB to cover it, it had elements of a pick underneath and caused the safety to drift right, out of the play. Not hard to figure once you see it, but not conventional in that there were multiple reasons the route was open. Huepel, Leach, and a few more (old ball coach) are on a different level of awareness when constructing an offense.

HAHA Vandy is still looking for their offense! Apparently it's anchored down as well.
